Puerto del Carmen

If you’re looking for the ideal holiday, come and discover a destination that not only offers great weather in a unique setting, but also a wide variety of activities to guarantee your holiday is a real success. Whether you want a relaxing break, entertainment, unbeatable landscapes, beautiful beaches, great weather, sport, leisure, fresh air, charm or traditions…

Puerto del Carmen has it all. Puerto del Carmen covers the coastal area of the municipality of Tías, one of the island’s seven municipalities. It is a town laden with history and shaped by the unforgiving power of nature, Lanzarote’s geographical position and its volcanic origins. So too are the villages of Conil, Mácher, La Asomada, Masdache, La Geria and Tías itself, which all together form this municipality that embodies the identity of Lanzarote’s people, their rich and challenging history, and their traditions, beliefs, lifestyle, past and legends.

Due to the influx of tourists, Playa Grande has become the most visited beach in the area. It is no doubt the most central beach, with the easiest access and the best facilities. It has a sports area, a play area, showers, lifeguards and a parasol and sunbed service. Playa Grande is bordered by the Avenida de las Playas promenade, the area with the greatest variety of restaurants and shops.

Throughout the year, Puerto del Carmen sets the stage for several sporting events that attract many renowned international athletes. Particularly noteworthy are the Ocean Lava Triathlon, the Music Marathon Festival, the Sailfish Lanzarote Open Water and the Ironman Triathlon, the latter being the most popular in terms of participation and also the most challenging.
